Blogging is becoming more and more popular each day. People of all ages, shapes and sizes are now blogging. If you wonder why people blog, well there are millions of reasons, but probably the number one reason is that blogging provides a venue for people to be heard. Fortunately today there are many platforms for bloggers to choose from.

And the best part of all is that most of these blogging platforms are free. Another great thing to mention is that if you signed up with Dreamhost or Bluehost they both offer one click installs for blogging platforms like WordPress. Blogging platforms like WordPress are also called Content Management Systems. CMS’s have made publishing web sites and blogs super easy. Trust me when I say this because I still remember when you had to write HTML code for every single page on your website, so WordPress makes me very happy.

So if you did sign up with Dreamhost or Bluehost you probably noticed all the Content Management Systems they have available for you to install.

Here are some that are available with Dreamhost.

WordPress

WordPress, as explained above, is the publishing software that you need to create your beautiful blog. WordPress is by far the easiest to use and the one that I’ve been using for all my websites. Dreamhost has one click install for wordpress, therefore making your life easier. There are thousands of free themes for WordPress, and lots of tutorials online on how to use it.

Blogger

Blogger is Google’s blogging platform and it’s also one of the most popular and widely used blogging platforms. Like WordPress, Blogger also has many templates to choose from when designing your website.

Tumblr

Tumblr is yet another blogging platform, it’s actually referred to as a microblogging platform and social networking site. It’s meant to be used mostly as short form blogs and allows users to post multimedia. Tumblr is currently very popular, as of Oct 2012, it has over 77 million blogs.

There are many other blogging platforms out there, but again my recommendation is WordPress. Stay tuned for more information on how to use wordpress.
